The fourth round of the FFSA French F4 championship kicked off at the prestigious Spa Francorchamps on the 1st of June. For Doyle Parfait, coming to a brand new circuit is always a steep hill to climb, especially with only half a year's single seater experience under his belt. Five practice sessions on Thursday put the weekend in motion, followed by qualifying on Friday.
Despite having top 10 pace in free practice, P19 was the eventual result for Gabe in qualifying. An aborted lap due to traffic blocking the road was the culprit for the disappointing result, as Parfait was improving on his previous best lap at the time. Despite this Parfait remained positive heading into the three races ahead of him. Race one started positively, having made up two places in the opening laps of the race. However after heavy contact at La Source, Parfait was forced to retire through no fault of his own, resulting in a DNF for the first race of the weekend.
Unfortunately race two was a similar story, after maintaining his starting position for most of lap one, the second lap saw a left rear puncture crush any hope for points. Two laps down but determined to get as much track time as possible, Parfait fought to a 24th place finish at the chequered flag. Race three would bring better fortunes, as Parfait drove a hard fought battle to P17, two places higher than where he started.
The championship heads to Misano on the 15th of July for the fifth round of the year, one which Doyle Parfait will aim to capitalise on his promising pace throughout the year, and score his first points of the season.
