The third round of the 2024 FFSA French F4 Championship took place at the legendary Spa Francorchamps, where Doyle Parfait stormed to a career best qualifying, and race result in two of the three events that weekend.
The weekend kicked off with a standard private testing session where Parfait placed in seventh, just five tenths off P1. After Free practice qualifying was underway in harsh weather conditions, combined with a slippery track for all drivers. Parfait finished with the ninth fastest time, placing him P9 for race one, P2 on for race two (reverse grid) and P11 for the final session of the weekend.
Race one finished on a high, crossing the chequered flag one palace above his grid position, in P9. After post race penalties this was promoted to P8, a career best finish for Parfait in French F4 to date. Race two started positively, with Parfait maintaining his P2 starting position for the majority of the race. Fast moving and adverse weather conditions meant he would have to settle for P9 at the flag, which was also promoted to P8 after competitors were penalised. “Despite losing a podium, I learned invaluable lessons starting from the front row and holding position until the rain.” commented Parfait.
The weekend was rounded off with an unfortunate DNF after just four laps of close racing around the seven kilometre track. “Though I missed a podium in Race 2, this was my best F4 weekend with many positives, decent points, and promising pace” said Doyle Parfait. “Thanks to my coach Callan from School of Send, my engineer Margot, and mechanics Hugo and Henry.
